Why you should Embrace Openness as a Value #OpenEdMOOC

I first heard of the open education movement during a life changing experience that ran in August called Ontario Extend. Since then I have dove into the movement head first by engaging with peers on Twitter, exploring opportunities through eCampusOntario, adopting (and reviewing) an open textbook, and taking a course called Introduction to Open Education through edX. Academic Freedom is different from Intellectual Property! Does it matter in contract negotiations?

Two of issues raised in the collective bargaining process according to the OPSEU and the Ontario Employer Council are academic freedom and intellectual property. I have seen these ideas lumped together in the emails coming into my inbox but I want you to know that they are not the same! Let’s take a look at these issues.
